India’s first noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore, was a multifaceted genius admired for his ‘myriad-mindedness’. His expansive body of work, encompasses fathomless treasures in music, songs, dance and poetry – all unique in its genre, that has established the very base of Bengal’s culture and beyond.
Numerous acclaimed artists in India and the world over continue to make efforts in presenting the mesmerising works of Tagore to the art lovers of the world.
Gitanjali Sengupta, a passionate Tagore exponent, with over 9 albums on Rabindra Sangeet to her credit, performed numerous stage, television and radio shows, has over the years made ardent efforts to reproduce works of the great poet with the involvement of renowned artists like Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Shanghamitra Gupta, Swagatalaxmi Dasgupta and Srabani Sen.
This year, on the auspicious festival season of Bangla Nababarsha and Rabindra Jayanti, she has ventured into a unique production titled ‘ANAND NIKETAN’- An Abode of Happiness, that has brought together some illustrious artists who have showcased works of Tagore.
Bratati Bandyopadhyay, an internationally acclaimed elocutionist, presents recitation from Tagore’s poems whilst renowned artists from ‘Drutam Dance Ideas Lab’ of Mumbai and Kathak dance exponents from Pune, have choreographed seamless dance performances to the melodies of Tagore songs rendered by Gitanjali Sengupta.
In the current situation, ‘Go Digital’ being the only option to reach the music lovers, we wish to present ‘ANAND NIKETAN’ digitally, which makes it available to view from any corner of the world, from any time zone. The pre-recorded concert will be released on 7th May (10:00am IST onwards) and will be available till 23rd May 2021 for online viewing only.
